Our little family love staycation. My kids are so excited whenever we tell them that we are going to have staycation! Madalas maaga silang natutulog para mabilis na daw mag umaga. Haha. This is our simple way to make my kids happy. As parents, we know kung anong magpapasaya sa mga anak namin. 😊

One of my officemates offered me overnight stay voucher to Marco Polo Ortigas, well he knows that we love staycation kaya sa akin nya inoffer yun. Hihi. I got the voucher for only Php 3,500 with free buffet breakfast for two, a steal price for a 5-star hotel! My plan is to use it for Rhian’s birthday since it falls exactly on a weekend so as early as 1st week of December, I called the reservation office to reserve our prefer dates.

Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is centrally located in Ortigas Commercial Business District between Quezon City, Mandaluyong and Pasig. For the 2nd time it was awarded by Forbes Travel Guide for 2018 as Five-Star Award. According to their friendly receptionist, this hotel has 316 luxurious guestrooms including upscale suites and Continental club floors offering the best views of the bustling Ortigas skyline and panoramic valley and mountain views.

We arrived at Marco Polo Hotel past 2 in the afternoon, as we reached the hotel one staff told us that there are no available parking slots and they offer valet parking instead (we need to pay Php 100 for the service). We were directed in the 24th floor where the lobby can be found. There are lot of people checking in when we arrived so I ask my husband to wait for me at the lounge area while waiting for room, I don’t worry about their comfortability as there have plenty of seating available and a bar in the lobby if you prefer to lounge there longer.

Reception area
Upon check-in, we were given our room key card for access in the elevator going to our room. (As an added security for their guests, you can only access your assigned floor, the common areas and amenities located at 22nd). Our room is located at the 41st floor, upon entering our room the first thing we saw were two sets of closets next to the marble topped luggage rack which was right across the bathroom. My kids are so excited to try the bed so they jumped in as soon as they saw it.

The room is simple yet elegant designed with monochromatic tones and a splash of green and classy furniture. Very stylishly. It is well lighted and spacious as my kids enjoyed running around our room. I requested to have a King size bed (though you have option for 2 double size beds upon request). The bed is super comfy with right mix of soft and sturdy, the pillows and comforter are fluffy and plush.

The room has a day bed/couch near the window where Rhian and Rhaine stays most of the time. It is also well-equipped with high-end amenities like a Nespresso coffee machine and tea making facilities, executive desk, LCD TV with cable, mini-bar and fridge, in-room safe, and complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi service. We were welcomed with complimentary bottled water and three fresh apples by your window. Since di namin sya nakain, inuwi nalang namin. 😊

The bathroom area in Marco Polo is definitely one of the best! The large and impressive bathroom was able to fit in a fully enclosed rain shower, water closet and marble full sized bathtub with view of the room and visible thru a large glass that can be hidden by lowering the window blinds. Look at my kids, enjoying the bubble bath in the bathtub! #FirstTimer

They also provided high-quality bathrobes, toiletries from shampoo, bath gel, bath soap, dental care and vanity kit. But what I like most is that they provided digital toilet with bidet. Ang nice promise! Oh before I forgot, they also provided two black high-class slippers.

After getting settled in our room, we decided to explore the hotel’s amenities at the 22nd floor. Marco Polo Hotel has a beautiful indoor infinity pool and jacuzzi with overlooking Pasig area though it’s a little bit small. It was perfect as the temperature was not too hot not too cold. We were supposed to swim in the hotel’s indoor pool but my kids are already relaxed after a long warm bubble bath in the marbled bathtub. Guess what, my kids were knocked out as soon as we lied down in our bed. Haha. Nag babad ba naman ng higit 1 oras sa bath tub eh.

Relax

Indoor pool

Waiting area for the Spa
We also visit the gym and spa located also at the 22nd floor. The gym was small but well equipped and provides right amount of privacy. We were not able to see the spa as the kids are so excited to try the Marco Polo Kids Club located at the ground floor.

Our stay here includes buffet breakfast for 2, kids ages 5 years old and below are free of charge. The complimentary breakfast is served in Cucina, located at the 24th floor hotel lobby from 6am to 10am in the morning. Cucina is open kitchen that features a wide range of food selection of fresh and healthy choices that cover Continental and Asian Cuisines. Our breakfast at Cucina is memorably satisfying.

Happy 5th Birthday, Rhian!
After our scrumptious breakfast and before checking out, we let our kids have another bubble bath! They really enjoy it. It was their first time to experience a bubble bath. Did you know that my husband also tried the bubble bath?! Nainggit sya sa mga bata. Haha.

Overall, it was a luxe staycation in Marco Polo. The rooms and amenities themselves are pretty amazing. The spa and gym are conveniently adjacent to one another. The only downside of Marco Polo is that they have two different lifts sections where in the other elevators will lift from Ground Floor to 22nd Floor then you need to transfer to another elevator which has access to the hotel rooms which requires  you patience and time to avail of its service.. Plus I keep on telling them that we are going to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, I expect them to prepare something to our daughter kasi sinasabi nga nila na they will do something, but too our surprised kahit man lang one slice of cake waley. Well, siguro I expect too much from them or maybe they overlook our request due to high volume of visitors. Nevertheless, it was a very excellent choice from a very smooth arrival and easy check-out and the very state of the art facilities!

We love staycation! In fact, we make sure to stay at the hotel once every quarter because our kids love to swim. Yes! Nag staycation lang kami dahil sa pool. Anyway, every New Year countdown our family stay at hotel which serves as our home away from home because my mom has asthma and afraid of fireworks. Our initial plan is to stay at Antel Hotel but already fully booked when we inquire, so I look for other hotels near Makati and luckily I stumbled on Y2 Residence Hotel promo on their Facebook account. I called their reservation office and booked 2BR for 3 days 2 nights stay from Dec 31st to Jan 2, 2018.

Our check-in process was definitely smooth however the reception area was jam-packed that time, grabe ang daming nag check-in sa hotel so we were asked to wait at the lobby while processing our reservation. After few minutes, we’re off to our unit. Oh by the way, I booked non-smoking room but since they are fully booked we were transfer to smoking area but they assured us that no one use the cigarettes on that floor since all the visitors are composed of family with kids. They also put humidifier at the corridor just to make sure.

The moment we step inside the hotel, I was amazed with the artistic and minimalist design of the lobby with dramatic use of black and white touches throughout the wall and furnishings. There are hand-painted walls around the area and you can easily notice the concept of two opposing but equal forces in a tight embrace to produce balance and harmony which immediately catches our eyes. Ang ganda nya promise.

Look at the ceiling, simply beautiful
Our 2BR is located on the 17th floor of the building, the only down side of this hotel is that the two elevators were small and we have to wait on queue to get to the floor/room. I hope they improve as most of the guests are excited to see and relax on their room. Parang 48 years ka pang maghihintay para makasakay ng elevator. Hayz.

Anyway, moving forward let’s go to our room. Since we booked for 2BR Deluxe, I expect our room to be spacious as we have three kids in tow. We were surprised how big our room was, it was HUGE and it feels like home concept, really home-away-from home comfort.  The room is clean with complete necessary complimentary amenities such as toiletries, refreshments (bottled water), fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, induction cooker, coffee maker and dinnerware. It has a living room with amenities such as cable LED television, Wi-Fi access, Telephone facility and minimal furniture.

Now let’s proceed with the rooms. There are two comfort rooms; one is located in the masters’ bedroom while the other is in the common area. Each room has a queen sized bed, pillows and comforter. All are clean and comfy. Gusto ko na nga syang iuwi eh. Haha. The masters’ bedroom has a cable television and study table. The cabinets are huge with safety deposit box and complimentary slippers which we used during our stay. They also provides laundry bag just in case you need it. The bathrooms are clean with complete toiletries. You may request for additional supplies for FREE just in case you consumed it. Well, we request for another toilet tissue and they immediate responds to our request.

The rooftop swimming pool is located at the penthouse which gives you a spectacular 360-degree view of the city; however you need to use stairs from 20th floor. Another disappointment for me as my mom has a problem with her legs, hirap na syang maglakad and umakyat ng stairs kaya di tuloy sya nakapag swimming though my kids enjoyed the pool.

The gym on the other hand is located at the upper Penthouse. They have advanced fitness machines such as stationary bikes, treadmills, weight loss and muscled-toning equipment. They also provide towels and water dispenser. Ang saya lang kasi may isang beses na nasolo ko yung buong gym. Hehe.

Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay here because everything went well. We really had a great time celebrating New Year’s Day at Y2 Hotel. The rooms are nice and comfortable to stay, living room was spacious, everything is just neat and clean, facilities are okay, the ambiance is chic and homey. I’m so glad I was able to check their facebook page for the promo. So if you’re looking for staycation in Makati, try checking out their facebook page for monthly promos.
