Being a hands-on wife is very difficult task especially on my
case, I’m 24 weeks pregnant with our little princess and it’s so hard for me to
do household chores. But what more difficult is to think of our everyday meal,
kailangan iba iba ang dish namin from breakfast to dinner. We live on
our own (as in kaming 2 lang) that’s why I am the queen of our kitchen, ika nga
ni Ian “Trono ko ang kusina namin.” Hehe.
Anyway, every Saturday is our grocery day and before we left
our house I already list the dishes that I am going to cook for a week. Last
week, one of menu is Tinolang Manok which is one of my husband’s favorite meals.
When I was a teenager (naks), I don’t know how to cook and thanks to my parents
who are one of the best chefs I've ever known. Idol ko sila when it comes in
cooking. So when it’s time for me to cook this dish, I called my dad to guide
me. Buti nalang at di busy tatay ko. Thanks Dad!
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken, cut into serving pieces
1 thumb ginger, cut into strips
3 cloves garlic (minced)
1 medium sized onion, chopped
1 chicken cube
2 tbsp fish sauce (patis)
1 small to medium green papaya (cut into wedges)
½ cup pepper leaves
3 cups water
3 tbsp cooking oil
Maluggay
Salt and pepper to taste
Procedures:
- In a sauce pan, sauté the garlic, onion and ginger.
- Add the chicken and cook for 5-10 minutes or until color turns light brown.
- Add fish sauce and mix well.
- Pour-in water and put to a boil. Simmer until chicken is done about 30 minutes.
- Add the chicken cube and green papaya wedges. Continue simmering until papaya is tender.
- Add the pepper leaves and malunggay.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve Hot. Share and enjoy!
If you’re going to ask me what was my husband reaction about
my Tinolang Manok, here is our simple conversation:
Me – Anong lasa ng tinolang manok? ^_^
Hubby – Super sarap! Malasang malasa, dami ko nga nakain eh! Galing mo talagang
magluto..
(Napaka bolero ng asawa ko, pero in-fairness nga kuhang kuha
ko yung luto ng father ko.. hehe.. Thanks Dad!)
