Certified Wife Cooked: Sinigang na Buto-Buto

I really love Sinigang! Kahit anong luto pa yan basta sinigang FAVORITE ko! Sinigang na baboy, isda or buto-buto, lahat yan number one sa puso ko! Haha.

My husband and I love the weather this week, perfect for cooking hot soup. So I told myself that I need to prepare something delightful for my husband, well I got him “Sinigang na Buto-Buto”.

Anyway, not only my husband enjoyed my Sinigang, but also my officemates liked it. Wow! “Certified wife” na daw talaga ako.. Haha.




Ingredients:

½ kilo pork spareribs
1 big onion
3 medium size tomatoes, cut into 4
5 pcs string of beans (sitaw) cut into 3 inches
2 pcs of okra
1 medium size eggplant, sliced diagonally
1 medium size gabi (taro corms), cut into cubes
1 medium size labanos (daikon), sliced diagonally
1 pc pork cube (knorr)
1 pack of Sinigang mix
5 pcs of fresh tamarind
8 cups of water
3 pcs siling green (green finger pepper)
1 bundle of kangkong (optional)

Procedures:

  1. Wash the pork spareribs and vegetables prior to cooking.
  2. In a pot, bring to boil the water.
  3. If the water begins boiling, add the spareribs let it boil until meat is well-done or tender.
  4. Add the onion, tomatoes and wait for 5 minutes before adding the fresh tamarind and Sinigang mix.
  5. Add gabi, labanos, string beans, chili green finger and eggplant.
  6. Cover the pot and wait for another 3 minutes.
  7. Finally, add the pork cube, okra and kangkong, cover and simmer for 2 minutes.
  8. Let it cook for 4 minutes. Add fish sauce as necessary.
  9. Serve it hot with steamed rice.
